Asbestos Abatement and Demolition Services at a Commercial Institution

Tri-Phase was retained to provide demolition and asbestos abatement services for a property at 333 King Street East in Toronto.  The building was formerly the offices, printing press and distribution facility for The Toronto Sun and was now undergoing redevelopment.

The scope of work included asbestos abatement and interior demolition of the ground and third floors of the building, totaling over 100,000 sq. ft. of space.  The demolition scope of work was to bring everything back to base building including the demolition of the former press and distribution areas.  Extra care had to be taken to minimize any disruption to the remaining Toronto Sun employees who continued to occupy the second floor .

In addition to the asbestos abatement and demolition, other work included temporary shoring and installation of new structural steel for the front of the store and new loading areas.  The tight timelines on this project required coordination with several other contractors.

All work was completed on time and within budget.
